My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Fletcher. They say I'm a German Shorthair Pointer mix, and I am roughly a year old. My past is a bit vague, but all I know is that I want someone to love me. I love to cuddle in the living room chair with my foster mom while chewing on my Kong or stuffed toy. In fact, I love to walk on all the furniture and I guess I'm kind of funny ‘cause people laugh at me.

I’ve been really good about not chewing on items I’m not supposed to, but I LOVE toys! I also love to play with other dogs (I have two canine siblings at my foster home), so it would be wonderful to find a home with a playful canine sibling. J I’m also living with a kitty, and I think he is the best! Sometimes I pester him a little too much when I want to play, but I’ve been really good about redirecting when foster mom thinks I’m getting a little too rough.

I’m also super active (you saw I’m a pointer mix, right?) and I love to be outdoors and go hiking. My foster mom has been keeping me on a leash, but I promise if you teach me how I will do my best to hang out off-leash as well. I’d love for my new family to enjoy being outdoors so we can go on adventures together!

I bond really quickly when I have a chance to spend time with someone, but it may take me a bit to warm up at first. Once I know you, I’m very excited to see you when you have been gone! Foster mom says it’s bad manners to jump on people, so I’ve been trying to calm my enthusiasm. Because of this, it may be best that my new forever home not have young children so I don’t knock them over.

I’ve been pretty good in the crate. Foster mom tells me I need to stay in there while she is at work and when she is sleeping because I am young and mouthy and sometimes I find things to chew on that I really shouldn’t. I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite place in the world, but I am quiet and respectful during the times that I need to be in there.

I’ve been doing my best to master the potty-training thing, but sometimes I’m not really sure how to ask to go out. My foster mom has been working with me on this, and she says it’s getting much better!

I do have ‘cherry eye’, but the vet said it is more cosmetic than anything, so I think it just adds to my character. It doesn’t cause me any pain, and I have normal use and function in both my eyes.

If you are an active family or person with older kids or no kids and want my handsome sweet energetic self to be a part of your life, please let Happy Tails Happy Homes know. I'm so excited to meet you!
