My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Hazel and I’m a 1- to 2-year-old boxer, hound mix and a brand new obedience school graduate. I know I’ll make a great family pet because I obey commands like sit, down, stay, come, wait, leave it and watch me. Because I’m such a quick learner, I was chosen to attend weekly training classes with shelter volunteers and to serve as a model for training all the other rescues. Because I consider myself the best family guard dog ever, my first instinct is to protect my family. I need to be properly introduced when meeting new dogs and other small animals and take a little time to get used to them before we interact. Aside from being smart, I’m a very happy, sweet young lady who loves to take walks and to be petted and hugged. You see, I didn’t always receive such kind treatment. I was rescued from a home where my leash was nailed to a tree and I had no shelter. All I could do was stand, sit or lie down. I had recently given birth to a litter of 6 adorable puppies that were allowed to nurse until they were 8 to 10 weeks old while I was tethered to a tree. When my rescuers found me, I was extremely emaciated and had never been vetted or wormed. They tell me my days were numbered. Now you see why I’m so happy to be in a shelter where I have a warm bed, good food and caring volunteers who take me on walks, train me and give me lots of hugs and kisses. I’ve gained weight and am told I’m very beautiful now. I’m also up to date on shots, heartworm free and have been spayed. I love being loved and would like to share that bond with you. If interested in meeting me please email martowe514@gmail.com or call Margaret at 843-869-3869. Thank you for taking time to read my story. I look forward to meeting you!
