Hi
My name is Reba (as in Reba McIntyre – my owner was on a music kick when I was named). My owner is very ill and is in hospice. So, I am looking for a new home. I am a pure bred Maine Coon Cat, white with tabby splotches and I am quite large, as is the case for my breed.
I was born February 14, 2011, so that makes me a little over 3 years old. My owner got me when I was about 7 months old. I am a little shy at first, but once I get to meet you, you will see that I am very loving and like attention. Also a trait of my breed is that I am rather like a puppy dog that likes to follow you around and I will give you head butts or hand nudges when I want to be petted. I have beautiful green eyes and lynx-like tufts of hair on my ears.
I can be a talker sometimes, but rather than meow, I trill to you, which is another trait of a Maine Coon Cat. I like to play with cat toys, and when I am tired I look for a warm spot in the sun. I am an indoor cat only and use a litter box.
I do need to let you know that when I was about a year old, the vet said I had stomatitis. So, what is that you ask? Well, I have an antibody to the enamel on my teeth, so my gums and mouth were quite inflamed, even after a dental. The best option was to have all of my teeth removed. That sounds really bad, but it really wasn’t. I can eat food just fine, both hard and soft food. I currently eat Friskies pate with an appetizer of Friskies crunchies. The dental extractions totally fixed the problem and I will need no further follow up. The really positive thing is that I will never need another dental cleaning in my entire life. What a plus to me and to your pocketbook !!!
I have been around other cats and small dogs and do just fine with them. I have been around children over the age of 6 and I like them too. I have been spayed and am up to date on vaccinations. My current vet records and pedigree are available.
If you would like to give me a new fur-ever home, please see the contact information above.
