Pepper's Story...
Pepper is a beautiful female beagle, about 6-7 years old, who was surrendered by her owners to Indianapolis Animal Care and Control. She is a super sweet girl who loves people and craves attention and affection. She is very gentle and seldom barks, but does have the beagle bray when she does bark. The vet was absolutely thrilled with her good manners. She is going to make a GREAT companion for someone. Her previous owners surrendered her when she got a bit grumpy around their infant. They reported she growled at and nipped the baby but didn't know what might have precipitated that behavior. We have seen none of that behavior whatsoever, but, to be safe, would suggest that any children in her new family be 10 years of age or older.

Contact Mindy at mmiller@beaglebuddies.org to obtain an application. Submit the application form and we will schedule a time to meet the pet. If interested in adopting we require a home visit and an adoption agreement with a fee. Our adoption fees are $100 if over 5 years, $125 if younger than 5 years but older than 1 year, and $175 if younger than 1 year. All dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption, are up to date on vaccinations, and a copy of vet records is provided upon adoption to set up a file at your vet. We supply collar, temporary ID tag until you can use till you get one, and leash. All beagles are micro-chipped as well.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Pepper, a Indianapolis Beagle dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle for sale in Indianapolis, or seeking a Beagle dog from a breeder in Indianapolis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Indianapolis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Indianapolis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle breeders who help with Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Indianapolis paves the way for another one to be saved.
