My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Rudy and I am a 2-3 year old labrador retriever mix who is looking for a forever home. I am a big guy at around 60 pounds in weight. I originally came in to a kill shelter injured and was thought to have been hit by a car. The shelter gave me just 48 hours to find rescue or they were going to put me down. In my last hours, Misfit stood up for me and scooped me out of there to get me checked out by the vet. I stayed at the vet for a little while since I was sick and my back leg was messed up. The vet determined it was too damaged to be saved and so I had it amputated.

I don't even think about it anymore now that I'm all healed up. In fact, it's like it was never there! It doesn't affect me at all! I LOVE to run and play with other dogs. One of my favorite things in the world is to play with toys and catch balls. I am a happy-go-lucky and active guy who just can't wait for the right family to come along and give me a forever home.

My adoption fee is $95 and I come neutered, vaccinated (including rabies shot), de-flead, and de-wormed. I did test positive for heart worms but they are a TREATABLE condition and are NOT a death sentence! I am currently being treated with the slow-kill method and will eventually test negative and be good to go. If you have any questions regarding what my continued treatment entails (It's easy!), please feel free to contact the rescue so they can fill you in. I promise it will be no problem and I am worth it!
