Rocky's Story...
Rocky is a wonderful, friendly, gentle and playful kitty who just wants to snuggle and love someone. He’s so sweet, he’s always ready to be held and petted, and he gives tons of affection in return.

Rocky has a gorgeous bright orange and white coat and is seven years old. It’s been hard for him to lose his family, but he’s enjoyed meeting new people, and he’ll have fun learning new games with interactive toys, dangly things, and trying to catch “the red dot”! He gets along with other gentle cats in his foster home, but would be fine as an “only cat.”

Rocky belonged to a family in public housing in Washington, DC, but the manager made everyone give up their pets! They were so worried about Rocky, but knew a 4Paws volunteer who had helped them get Rocky neutered and vaccinated back when he was just a little guy. They asked her to find their beloved cat a responsible, loving, new home. So she took him to safety, and lucky Rocky didn’t end up in “the pound.”

Rocky will be a terrific companion to someone who wants an affectionate cat and can offer him their time and lots of love. He has lots of love to give in return. He’s such a lovely, friendly cat that we are sure he will make someone very happy.

Rocky has been neutered since he was a youngster, and is now up to date on his rabies and FVRCP vaccinations. He tests negative for FIV/FeLV. He is eating Science Diet Optimal Care kibble in his foster home, and Fancy Feast classic flavors of canned food twice daily. He seems to like all high-quality chicken based kibble.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rocky, a Merrifield Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Merrifield, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Merrifield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Merrifield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Merrifield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Merrifield paves the way for another one to be saved.
