My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Rory is a 14 week, 2 pound 14 oz. puppy who is looking for his forever home. He is probably a mix of chihuahua and perhaps maltese as his coat is soft and not wiry but to find out his true breed mix one would have to do a DNA test. However, whatever his breed he is very sweet and loves to be held and cuddled. He also enjoys playing with the other small dogs in his foster homes. Rory has a good appetite and is being trained to puppy pads due to the weather. He does cry like a puppy sometimes when he wants something but otherwise he is very quiet. Rory will probably be only 5-6 pounds full grown and thus his new home must not have children under the age of 13. Also, because he is so young he needs a home with a stay at home adult for the next 6-9 months for proper socialization and training. Rory had a full veterinary exam and is current on distemper shot (booster needed in 3 weeks), rabies shot, worming, and he can start his heartworm pill and frontline this spring. He must also be neutered no later than six months and a deposit is required which the rescue will pay to the adopter’s vet at the time of the neuter. He is with Happy Hound Rescue, a 501c3 all volunteer rescue and is in a foster home. His adoption fee is $350 plus a $50 neuter deposit.
