My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Lilly.

I am a 2 1/2 year old black spayed female.

I have white on my chest and speckled white spots on my face. My foster momma says they are puppy spots from having so many litters of puppies.

I am house trained and crate trained. I do have a tendency to save my treats until I see you come back home to me, then I’ll eat my treats provided to me earlier. The treat is good, but I prefer to be with my people.

If you leave the room, I will follow you. If you leave the room while I’m preoccupied or taking a nap, I will start looking for you. Have no fear, I do not get into trouble when I am alone in a room. I simply love to be surrounded by my people. The closer to people I’m with, the more secure and love I feel.

Do you like to have company while you travel or do errands? Take me with you! I would LOVE to go on car rides with you! I am very well behaved during car rides. I love to look out the window or sleep. I do have a tendency of wanting help co-pilot, but I have to stay in the backseat whenever my foster momma turns down my offer.

When I came into the rescue, I had heart-worm. I have since started the heart-worm treatment and I will be free of it by the end of January 2015. That is when I’ll be ready for adoption! The veterinarian even told my foster momma that I was the best behaved dog undergoing heart-worm treatment he had had in a while.

My foster mom agrees that I am a good dog in every way but one. I have a tendency to give hugs and kisses whenever I see people. To show my love, I like to stand up and wrap my front legs around people. So, I’ll need to be reminded not to “jump” on people but to stand, and let people love on me instead.

I am a little better with children by not jumping on them. Because I am very good with kids, I just have a tendency to spend more time kissing them instead of jumping on them.

Small kids do have to be careful of my happy tail though. I am very protective of kids. If I think someone is hurting children, I will bark. It can be hard for me to tell the difference between play fighting and real fighting.

I currently live with two cats and I get along with them. I mostly ignore them. If a cat makes noises at me, I will assume it wants to play with me and I will start to chase it.
No question —- I know the cat is in charge. Whenever the cat stops running and walks back towards me, that is when I’ll stop and run the opposite direction!

I get along with dogs of all sizes too, although I will beg to get more attention than them.

As a result of my past, I prefer female owners initially, but I do love male owners once I have time to adjust to them.

With time, I will be your biggest fan and run to you for attention and love! I will cuddle with you, go on walks with you, run errands with you, and even help you with cleaning up food if you adopt me!
