My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Onyx.

I am a 1 1/2 yr old black neutered male.

I have a big white chest, white on my back toes, and a funny white chin that my foster moms says is really cute.

I am house trained and crate trained. I like to play games with my foster family about going into my crate. Sometimes I just lay on the bed and pretend not to hear them tell me to crate. I really like cookies so if there is a treat involved I will go right in.

I love to go for walks. I am a big boy and will pull sometimes if I get excited or see something I think I need. I am learning that walking nicely on the leash is expected. My foster mom walks me and my two Dane foster brothers together so we must be good otherwise I don't think she could do that.

When I came into rescue I was very overweight(whatever that means). All I know is that it was hard to walk and I was hot all the time. My foster mom said I needed to lose weight and thats what I did. I am proud to report that I have lost 40 lbs. I no longer go around panting all the time and can run and play with my foster brothers.

I have no idea I am huge. I think I am a lap dog.

My foster mom tells me I need to learn boundaries. She tells me to move out of her way a lot. I just want to be close to my people. I love to lay my big head in her lap and just get petted. My foster mom tells me I step on her feet alot. When I get excited, I run and jump straight up in the air right next to my foster mom. She says this is not very nice but she does laugh at me because I look funny when I do it.

I like children but might hurt them if I knock them down accidently. I just forget my size.

I need to go to a home without cats. I like to chase them.

My foster mom does not know how I would be with a small dog either. I have met a retreiver mix and I was fine with him.
