My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Champ is one gorgeous boy! And it's no wonder - he has a stunning father! Champ's mommy (a rat terrier mix) and his daddy (see listing for Prince, a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever) were rescued (along with Champ's half sister) from a high kill Louisiana shelter where they were all dumped by their previous owner. They were going to be euthanized for space (owner surrenders are killed first to allow more room for strays), so a kind woman saved them and sought rescue help. We stepped in and committed to the entire family. A few days after they were rescued, Champ's mother gave birth to champ in her foster mom's home. He was the only puppy in the litter.

Champ was born on June 26, 2014. He is currently 6 months old and is a small but gorgeous little guy. He gets his stunning good looks from his dad, and his petite size from his mama (mama passed away prior to rescue but pictures are available for interested adopters who complete an application for Champ or his sister Pebbles). Champ weighs in at a mere 15 lbs. and is not likely to exceed 20 lbs when full grown. Champ is a darling, energetic, playful little guy who is currently fostered with his sister Pebbles. They get along well with other dogs, but have not been introduced to cats. Champ is working on learning basic obedience, and isn't too bad on a leash so far! He will need an owner committed to training him the rest of the way to be a model citizen.

Champ is working on his housebreaking and is making great progress now that he is in a foster home. A regular schedule and patience will be needed as he adjusts to home life. Champ is fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and has been receiving heartworm prevention since he was a small puppy. He is also heartworm negative and has been treated for fleas. Champ has been given a clean bill of health and is ready for adoption!

Interested adopters please email MJsAnimalSanctuary@gmail.com to request an application. Potential adopters subject to reference check, vet reference, home visit, meet and greet. Adoption fee applies.
