My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Avery - a pretty black Lab mix who is five years old. Her family surrendered her because they couldn’t afford to take care of her any more. She is a devoted companion who will sit by your feet and walk by your side. Our southern partner shelter tells us, “Avery is a gentle, graceful Labrador Retriever mix who is five years old. She was shy at first, but responds well to attention, patience and affection. Like most of our owner surrenders, she was bewildered and confused in the shelter environment at first. Avery enjoys walks and loves to run in the shelter yard. She is housebroken, too. Avery has such a great time playing with the toys! She is a bright dog who wants to please and should do well with obedience training.

Avery does guard her food, so she should be fed separately if there is another dog in the household. Avery does well with people of all ages and gets along with other dogs. One of our shelter volunteers took Avery home for a few days and introduced her to two cats. Avery was fine with them - she just wanted to play.”

To apply to adopt Avery or any of our sweeties, please check out our application on our website, www.luckypuprescue.org.

Please note: We do not have a physical location, but we are supported by a network of wonderful foster homes that are spread throughout New England. A dog will need to be visited by a prospective adopter in the foster home where they are feeling safe and comfortable.

Thank you for considering rescue!

Avery is coming to Maine very soon and needs a foster home to get her settled so she can find her forever family.
