My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Marco, at only 16 -18 weeks old and about 7 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 12 lbs), was facing the end of his life before it ever began. Farfel's Kansas rescuer is very compassionate and loving (and could see Marco was the sweetest baby ever) and couldn't turn her back on this puppy...she rescued Marco just in time! Marco is starting out in life with great energy...the excellent results of his puppy temperament-testing (seems to be the ultimate lap puppy) resulted in a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. He's also incredibly beautiful...with the purest of white and a soft fawn coloring that have come out since he received a good, sudsy bath after his release from the shelter. We'll post a photo of the clean and gorgeous Marco just as soon as we get one.
Marco is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's so smart and kind...very typical of the cross of a Cairn and a Jack. He's also bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of his scary start. Since Marco is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential (such a great temperament!) in the world to be an awesome companion - he clearly has a temperament that forms firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs & humans). Marco is at a perfect point to learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Socialization Class followed by group Obedience Classes. It does take a bit of time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior.
We'd like Marco to find his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Marco loves children as well but we would prefer to place him in a home with older kids 10+ who are gentle and can participate in a kind yet consistent training protocol.
Marco will be up to date on vaccinations that are appropriate for his age. He will not be neutered due to his puppy status. Farfel's will be great with covering all costs for Marco's neuter and microchip (at one of our vets) immediately after his arrival in Denver to be in line with our commitment to zero population growth and healthy, well-balanced adoptions.
Marco is an adorable combination of a shedding and a non-shedding breed... he doesn't appear to shed at this point but due to his young age, we don't feel we can guarantee his suitability for an individual with severe allergy challenges.
Marco will be arriving on transport in Denver on Wed 1/14/2015. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this sweet and endearing puppy, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302.
