My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

COLIN is a 5 year old neutered chocolate male Lab who weighs 49 pounds. Colin is a very nice, fairly calm, petite chocolate guy. He is good on leash and a great rider. He was a little shy at the shelter but has really opened up since being at the vet and is very friendly and waggy. He is good with other dogs and so far is ignoring the vet kitties. He is keeping his run spotless and does not chew bedding. At 49 pounds he is a great size. He has a nice coat now that he is all clean. Colin's owner was evicted from his home and Colin was left behind on a chain in the yard.He is approved for kids 10+.

Update (3/27): Colin has one great head tilt. He is curious about everything and so much fun. This week Colin learned that walking with a loose leash is much more enjoyable than pulling, and so we're able to take leisurely, quiet walks out here on the rural roads. He enjoys looking out the front door and windows to see what's going on in the neighborhood, and it appears that Colin may not have lived in a house with a TV before; he thinks TV barking dogs are real ones. Of all the toys he has to play with, he loves fetching (and chewing) sticks best. He is crazy for car rides and is the first one in the garage when he knows we're heading out somewhere. Colin is a super affectionate guy who's happiest when all his humans are together with him.

Update (3/20): Colin is doing well. He is somewhat shy with new people, but warms up to them once he’s checked them out. He loves attention, and seems somewhat anxious when not with his foster in the same room, but will settle if he’s given a treat. Eventually he will go in the other room and nap on the bed or the sofa. He would probably do well with adopters who are home more than not. He jumps at new sounds, but hopefully will relax as he settles in. He’s a great napper once he’s had some exercise. He walks ok on leash. He is super food motivated so it's easy to train him, he's learning to look at his foster when on leash. Earlier in the week he enjoyed the sun on the deck, he liked that a lot!! He’s been sleeping with his foster, he loves to cuddle on the bed! He’s a little mouthy when he gets excited, but we redirect with some good chewy treats and he stops. He takes treats extremely gently. He would do great with a family who can exercise him and give him some attention and consistent training. Catching a ball or frisbee in the backyard for 10 minutes or so several times a day, and a mile or so walk seems to be enough for him

Update (2/26): Colin is a very nice and handsome boy. He walks on the Easy Walk Harness quite
well. Colin would do best in a home without cats or small dogs as he does have a strong prey drive. He would do best with a fenced in yard as he loves to run around and play in the yard. Colin is very friendly with the resident dog and enjoys the company of other dogs. He loves to be petted and thinks he is a lap dog.
