My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE: Noel has a custom fitted cart from Eddie's Wheels that she zooms around in, chasing her foster brothers and popping wheelies.

Almost every dog that comes into rescue has a tough story. We were contacted by a couple (TDR supporters and volunteers) about a 5 month old pup. The owners kept this little pup locked up in a back bedroom. Why, you may ask. The answer: simply because this little pup could not use her back legs. They jokingly named the little girl “Crip” and really just let her live. They did not try to help her in anyway. They claimed she would not eat or drink. They told our volunteers that she would lay in her own filth. She was treated like an outcast and a joke all because of her disability. Upon first sight of her, the volunteers fell in love and saw past her disability. All they could see was a beautiful, albeit neglected, little puppy who needed a helping hand.

We brought her to the vet the following day and our first glimpse of her was one that we will never forget. Here was this little pup, who, with the help of her rescuer, was trying to walk. He made a makeshift harness from a bathrobe belt that lifted up her back end and she was trying her darndest to scamper along with the aid of her rescuer. We walked over to her and got the slightest tail wag. We knew right then that no matter what; this dog would never live in a back bedroom again. This little girl would no longer be known as Crip. That part of her story is over. She will have a new beginning with a name that fits this little angel….Noel.

The x-rays taken that day at the vet were not good. Her spine was so twisted that the vet confirmed she would probably never walk without assistance, be it a hind harness or a cart. She has shown us that she can walk by herself, not for a long period of time, but she has the will and drive to get up and go, especially to chase after her foster brothers. She's working on the treadmill and aqua therapy to strengthen her core and she's improving every day. She has done more in the last month than she has during the first 5 months of her life and she is thriving in her foster home. She is just a love, a wonderful little dog looking for a very special family.
