Soma, part Malamute, part Shepherd, and part Wolf, is looking for her forever home.

After having had the blessing of being with Soma for six months, these are a few insights we would like to share with her future pack.

Above all other things, Soma is a graceful and gentle spirit. She is very intelligent and eager to learn. She has a highly sensitive heart and mind, and is very aware of all things around her. She is quite like a mirror, reflecting your own state of awareness. She excels around those who are full of joy and laughter, who are deeply committed to her and unconditional in their love towards her. She won’t respond to ego’s demand. She won’t accept micro-management. She does not recognize a need to control her, but she will meet you in a request when she is ready.

She would love to have a forever home that honors her wildness as well as her domestic nature. She requires a home that will allow her to be both inside and outside. Safe, open acreage is ideal. We sense she would appreciate gentle, intuitive obedience training. Once trust, acceptance, and respect are established, she will be loyal to you the rest of your days. She is quick to listen, and recognizes both tone and words. She requires a home that is patient and accepting.

Soma is an amazing, resilient creature. She has three legs, triple the tenacity, and she bounds quickly through the fields of the Rockies unimpeded. Her favorite activities include running at full speed through the forest, jumping into bodies of water and swimming furiously, and chasing after critters. She knows the commands sit, stay, “ok!” (release), and come. She knows her name is Soma, in fact, she chose it!

She also has some opportunities to grow. Having experienced much trauma in her youth, she is still understandably distrustful of people, however, with patience and lots of love, she is healing. At the moment, she has shed much of her fear and is working on establishing a healthy sense of self. She is (literally) finding her voice and her puppy nature for the first time. It is an honor to witness.

Soma is Beta, so in our experience she finds her order in the pack quite easily. She loves playing with other dogs! She is not at all aggressive unless she feels attacked. She is protective of her pack and will defend them if they are attacked. Otherwise, she is not territorial or Alpha in any manner.
