Annie's Story...
Annie is a 2 year old Wheaten Terrier mix that was found living on the side of a very rural swamp road. She was very shy initially but has come to trust and love the shelter staff and she even plays with us now. Annie is still considered a low energy dog and she is very well mannered and gentle. Annie did test positive for heartworms but doesn't have symptoms and with her young age she can most likely be treated by continuing monthly prevention and retesting yearly. Dog adoption is 130.00 and includes spay/neuter, heartworm testing, age appropriate vaccines including a 3 year rabies, health exam, deworming, and microchipping. Any animal 6 months or older is considered an adult. No animals are vetted until they are adopted as we do not have a vet on staff. Once the animal is adopted we make a vet appointment, and they must go to be vetted before they can go home with an adopter. Call 985.651.7387 for more information regarding adoption.

Act quickly to adopt Annie. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Annie, a Laplace Border Terrier/Wheaten Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Terrier/Wheaten Terrier for sale in Laplace, or seeking a Border Terrier/Wheaten Terrier dog from a breeder in Laplace.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Laplace already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Laplace breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Terrier/Wheaten Terrier breeders who help with Border Terrier/Wheaten Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Laplace paves the way for another one to be saved.
