My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a happy dog who is filled with delight for life? Read on to meet Keekee!

Keekee is a 51 pound female blue staffordshire terrier mix who is believed to be between four/ four and a half years old.

Keekee still has boundless energy--she was once clocked running alongside a snowmobile at about 30 mph! In addition to running fast in the snow, Keekee loves long walks, hikes, and doing any active activity. Keekee is happiest when she has an outlet for all of her energy and excitement.

Keekee is very affectionate with humans, loving them almost as much as activity. Even though she weighs 51 pounds she is quite certain she is a lap dog; she loves to cuddle! While Keekee always wants to snuggle on top of her people she's also content to nestle nicely next to, (but always touching!), her humans. She truly loves being around people, and we believe she'd be fine living with children who can handle her enthusiasm for being energetic. Keekee enjoys traveling in the car (she has never gotten car sick)- so would make an ideal travel companion for a family who likes to explore New England's various woods and mountains.

Keekee is still working on her manners. She knows "sit", and without other distractions can "stay", but needs reinforcement that that fences are not there to test agility (as in, Keekee needs to learn that she's not in a race that measures how high and far she can jump). Keekee responds well to training and direction when people have the time and discipline to train her. Keekee walks nicely in a harness on a leash, however she can strongly pull the walker if she sees another dog. Keekee plays appropriately-but very physically-with other dogs at day care. She is also good with cats and has made it her mission to lick every cat in her foster home!

In a snapshot: Keekee is a dog with a zeal for life with an active lifestyle. If you enjoy outdoor activities and the joys (and challenges) of training, then Keekee may be a fit for you! Please fill out an application on our website by copying and pasting the following link into your browser:

Keekee is being fostered in Framingham and the adoption fee is $300.

NOTE: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
