My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There is so much that is special and endearing about Juliette. She has been my four legged shadow ever since she came to stay with us and if she is not following me everywhere I go, is she laying at my feet. She has what I like to refer to as her levels of happiness. First is tail wagging, which she pretty much always does. The second level usually comes out when food is involved, this is where she wags her bum as well. And the third level, reserved for when someone returns, is when her whole body erupts in to a wagging happy dance, head down to her tail. Also very unique to her is her colouring. She is an amazing mix of black and white, with different marks on each sides, and spotted colouring on her legs and stomach. Most important to know about Juliette is that she is such a sweet and loving dog. Juliette is approximately 2 - 3 years old and currently weighs 42 lbs.

Here is what else Juliette's foster family had to say:

Juliette is extremely affectionate and loves to be around people. She was very quick to warm up to us and was rubbing her head against me within moments of meeting me. She was a little unsure of what to do with most of her toys when we first introduced her to them. She instantly played with the rope toy and loves to play tug a war. It took her a few days to understand fetch but she is now a huge fan and is pretty good at bringing back the ball, though she has just recently discovered the joys of keep away. Each day we have her she seems to become more comfortable with us and reveals more and more of her personality. One thing I have noticed about her is that she seems to be very in tune with our emotions, the more happy we are the more happy she is. The one and only time I got stern with her she put her head down, walked into her crate and sat there and stared at me with the saddest eyes I have ever seen. Juliette looks very healthy and there are no concerns.

When strangers enter the house she will bark at them but only for a few minutes and she sees all is okay. Then she is ready to be there best friend. She is very good at alerting us to someone strange in the house but she is generally quiet in the home. We do not have children in the home and have not had the opportunity to have her around children however she is a very friendly and affectionate dog and has been great with everyone she has met. Juliette is very calm and tends to walk at a slower pace than you would expect. I would say her energy level is moderate to low. Juliette’s shedding is extremely low and we have only really noticed it in the tub after she was bathed. Juliette has gotten along amazingly with our dog. She is not much of one to play inside, but once they are outside, she will engage in play with my dog (chasing, wrestling). At first she showed little interest in my dog, more eager for human affection than a playmate, but now that she has gotten used to my dog they have become great friends. Juliette has shown some interest in cats. She has followed my cat around the house a few times, never really engaging with her, more just smelling her and her things.

Juliette has great house manners. She has never chewed on anything. She will smell food and get close to it but has never attempted to take anything that wasn’t offered to her. She has shown some interest in the garbage can, after certain food remains have been thrown out (sausage, chicken, etc) but this was remedied with a securely placed lid. She did not know any commands when she came to us. We are working on sit, which she can do 100% of the time if a treat is present, less reliably without a treat but that will come with practice. We are working on down, off and come as well. Juliette is well house trained and has never had an accident. She is being crate trained and overall does well with it, other than barking. When she first got here she was very unsure about the crate, so we worked on getting her comfortable with it and now she will willingly go in the crate with no issues. Juliette has some issues walking on the leash. The whole time we are out for a walk she has her nose to the ground, sniffing out all of the new and interesting smells. Due to this she tends to pull and wanders. We are working on this. Juliette has never tried to escape from the yard but will bolt out of an open door. We are working on teaching her to sit at the door. She rides fairly well in the car but does attempt to jump to the front passenger seat if no one is sitting in it.

Juliette is easy going and affectionate and really just one of the sweetest dog’s I have ever met. She is a very smart dog and has picked up things very quickly, such as the sit command and which rooms she is allowed to go in. Although she will still need some training I am confident that she will learn very quickly. The best home for Juliette would first and foremost be a home where she will be loved unconditionally and cared for because she is so deserving of it. She would thrive in a home where she will be given tons of attention and pets. She is so content to spend her nights laying on the couch in front of the tv so someone with similar interests would be perfect for her. She loves to be the center of attention and will wiggle her way in front of other pets to get treats or to be petted, but would do just fine in a house with pets. Basically if you are looking for a a dog who will greet you with a happy dance, snuggle with you on the couch and love you unconditionally then Juliette is the perfect dog for you.

If you think Juliette would be a good choice for your situation, please submit an application for consideration.
