My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bella is a 12 pound, 7 year old female Westie. She was given up by her former owner because her owner is working and does not have time for Bella. Also, Bella cries when she's left home alone and was not house trained, says her owner.

Bella has shown us that she has a drinking problem--she drinks about a quart of water the first thing in the morning when she goes to the water bowl. This is obviously more water than a dog should want to drink. She also pees a corresponding amount, and frequently.

Sooooo, we went to the vet and Bella gave up blood and urine specimens for diagnostic purposes. We got the results back, and we were surprised to learn that all her readings are in the normal range. The vet thought it might be wise to treat for a Urinary Tract Infection, if that is the cause, so Bella started taking antibiotics.

Bella went on for her spay surgery and had her teeth cleaned. Her uterus was normal, so that was ruled out as a cause for her urinary problem. Now that Bella has recovered from surgery, she is feeling so much better! She is playing with toys and even gets into tug-of-war games with her foster dog-pals.

Bella went on for more testing to rule out possible causes: ultrasound and x-rays were performed and she was tested for Cushings Disease. The results all indicate that Bella is normal. So what all that adds up to is the distinct possibility that Bella drinks excessively because she was deprived of water in her former home, and as a result, drinks excessively when she gets the chance.

Bella now understands how to use the doggie door, so goes outside for all her potty breaks. She keeps her kennel dry at night, too, so is able to hold it until she goes out for her first-of-the-day potty break in the morning. All in all, even if her excessive drinking cannot be resolved, she has shown herself to be a first-rate pet--very loving and spunky. Bella would do best in a home with a doggie door or someone home all day to let her out frequently for potty breaks, as needed.

Bella is microchipped, spayed, vaccinated and tests negative for heartworms. Her adoption fee is $200. If you are interested in adopting Bella, please write us at pricelesspets4u@gmail.com and ask for an application to adopt Bella
