My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Josh is a very handsome and oh-so-sweet 2 year old Beagle boy, weighing in at about 31 lbs. His owner surrendered him to the Patterson shelter because he said he was moving and couldn't take him along. The shelter was a noisy place with lots of big scary dogs; some of them weren't very nice! Poor Josh! His whole world was turned upside down overnight. He was confused and understandably terrified! Thankfully, this gentle boy is safe now and making a fresh start in rescue.

Now at his foster home, Josh has shown that he is a friendly and affectionate dog. He is initially shy around new people, but is gaining more self confidence daily. Josh is friendly and playful around other same-sized dogs and enjoys the company of his foster friends. Given his frightening experience at the pound, a home without large dogs would probably be best. He seems cat friendly, showing only a curious interest in them. Josh has not been observed with young children and may be best suited to an adult home or perhaps one with older children.

Josh has had a veterinary exam, is current on all his shots, tested negative for heartworms (on preventative), microchipped and neutered.

Josh needs a true friend that will not leave him behind to face an uncertain future ever again. He would make a wonderful, loyal companion for that lucky someone. Remember...a dog is a life-long commitment!

Important: Josh is not at a shelter where you can go to meet him. All Safe Hounds Beagles are cared for in a loving foster home. Prospective adopters MUST submit an adoption application and be pre-approved before meeting a dog. Submitting an application does not guarantee you will be approved. We are unable to accept applications for specific dogs and cannot guarantee the future availability of this or any dog listed. Once an application is approved, we’ll begin a matching process--the right dog for the right home. Please visit our web page: www.safehounds.com to learn more about the adoption process and to download our adoption application.

If you are unable to adopt at this time, please consider helping us so that we can continue to help them. We have dogs with medical needs and many hungry Beagles to feed. We are always in need of dog food and other items from our wish list as well as financial support to help us care for our dogs.

This pet requires an application and $250 adoption fee.
