My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

It always touches our hearts at Farfel's when we see the young puppies that are already in desperate situations. Such was the case when Dolly's adorable face popped up on our computer screen as "Urgent". How could it possibly be that this gorgeous Alaskan Malamute/German Shepherd baby (and her 2 siblings) was about to be euthanized? We sprang into action and were successful in rescuing the litter of 3 puppies & their mom. Dolly is a beautiful puppy who fortunately is too young to be affected by her time at the shelter. Since Dolly is only 9 weeks old, she's a little girl weighing in at 11.8lbs. She's starting off with a naturally loving and curious temperament...if treated with love and respect while having clear boundaries, Dolly will develop into a well-balanced and super-devoted companion. The reality of adopting a puppy is that they're a blank slate...they will develop into the adult dogs we teach them to be. If we housebreak and begin general training with a serious sense of commitment....yet with an understanding that our pup ends up as loving as they are treated...we will end up with a well-balanced and devoted companion. We strongly suggest Puppy Socialization classes (offered by most trainers) to introduce Dolly to other pups and to begin her understanding of what appropriate behavior is toward other dogs. It also teaches the beginning skills of sitting, lying down and recall. We are open to placing Dolly in a home with older children or with a retired couple (or individual). We would love a family that has the time and motivation to guide a puppy...and snuggle her as well. This requires lots of togetherness and clear messages as to what's expected. We also feel strongly that an active puppy like Dolly needs to be kept stimulated with frequent walks, playtime and socialization with as many humans and other pups as possible. It is through this positive interaction that Dolly will develop into a dog that is trustworthy around other dogs as well as children. She would enjoy riding shotgun in the car to develop a love of traveling as well as guidelines as to what appropriate car behavior is. As Dolly gets older she will enjoy long hikes, camping & maybe even ski jorring! Dolly is a shedding girl and will therefore require daily brushing to keep your home relatively hair free. Farfel's will take responsibility for payment for Dolly's spaying and microchip as soon as she's old enough for the procedures.

UPDATE: Dolly is almost totally housetrained! She has had one accident inside but everything else has been outside! Yay! She walks well on a leash & loves to greet people on the street. You can't walk a block without being stopped!

Dolly is being fostered in Denver and is available for meet n greets! Applications are currently being accepted for this snuggly, cuddly companion.
