Breed: Miniature Long-haired Dachshund mix. Looks are very Doxie, but with longer legs
Weight: 11 pounds
Age: 1 year old
Personality: Duke is very affectionate, loves to play and cuddle, really enjoys playing with other Dachshunds, but likes to play with other breeds too as longer as they are not super hyper.
Coat: Short, easy maintenance, legs are fringed, long feathery ears, will need an occasional bath and brushing
Training: Knows sit, stay. Was completely untrained and didn't know how to walk on a leash when we rescued him. Foster mom is teaching him. He is super smart and learns quickly.
Potty trained: Yes
Health: Excellent, no health issues. He shouldn't have any of the Dachshund breed associated health issues like back problems because of his mixed genetics and longer legs. It will be important to keep his weight at a healthy amount. Being overweight is especially dangerous for long-backed breeds.
History: Duke was rescued as a stray from the OC shelter. He has been waiting to find his forever family since January 2015 with us. This dog has a lot of love to give and is very affectionate.
Fostered in: Buena Park with several other dogs and 2 girls
Type of home: Apartment or house with yard, either with canine or human siblings or as single dog. Would not mix well with an anxious, hyper type of dog. OK with working person, retired or stay at home mom. This boy is very flexible.
Crate trained: Yes, sleeps in crate at night and while his foster mom is at work
Good with Dogs: Yes (he doesn't like other dogs at first when he's outside because he's a little scared. As long as the dog is friendly and not overbearing, he enjoys playing with other dogs)
Good with Kids: Yes (foster house has 2 grade school children)
Good with Cats: No
Adoption fee (non-refundable): $300.
All dogs are fully vetted, tested for heartworm, microchipped, and up to date with vaccinations.

3. Meet and greet
4. Home safety check
5. Final approval and adoption finalized
