Archie's Story...
This sweet little guy is about 10 months old. He was lost, then unfortunately was attacked by something A nice woman found him and brought him to a vet. Archie’s wounds are minor, but he will be on antibiotics and pain medication for another week while his wounds hear. He's quiet, cuddly, and does great with other dogs and cats, and such a cutie! Each dog in our rescue is in a loving foster home, where they can grow, play, and recover from their time spent on the streets or in a shelter. If you'd like to meet an adoptable dog, please fill out an application on our website! ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS WILL BE ALLOWED TO VISIT OUR AVAILABLE DOGS. Every Dog Counts Rescue (EDCR) is a non-profit organization founded to save the lives of dogs in high-kill shelters in the Midwest. Dogs facing death row are pulled from shelters and brought to Indianapolis where they are fostered and receive veterinary care. They are then transported to our rescue partners in areas of the country with less pet over-population, or EDCR searches for loving homes for them locally. EDCR believes that truly every dog counts, regardless of age, breed, injury or disability.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Archie, a Indianapolis Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Indianapolis, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Indianapolis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Indianapolis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Indianapolis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Indianapolis paves the way for another one to be saved.
