I am already neutered, purebred, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs.
Pickles, cute name for a very cute dog. He has had a long road of injury, illness and slow recovery. He was hit by a car and fractured his back and pelvis. The finder gave him immediate care and then contacted us. We took him in and he continued to heal from those injuries. Pickles did continue to have urinary incontinence. We took him to Central Texas Veterinary Specialty Hospital. He had 7 stones in his urethra and had surgery to remove these stones and tighten the urethra as much as possible. The surgeon said sadly, Pickles probably had these stones for quite some time (causing him to dribble urine constantly) and once the urethra has been stretched so much for so long there is very little that can be done. Since the surgery (11-3-14) his urinary problem has slightly improved. He is on one last medication to try and get his urinary sphincter to tighten. We will know if this is working in a few weeks. His mobility is great, just a little stagger, he can walk, run and go up stairs.
We and Pickles are very blessed that he is in an awesome foster home. She says Pickles is a wonderful dog, fun loving, playful, gets along great with her dogs and the urinary problem is a minor problem. We are using a belly band that we ordered for him.
We are looking for a home for Pickles and a special owner that can look past his medical problem for the great dog that he is. He deserves to live out his life in a happy home with someone who loves him.
