My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Corvette! I'm just as fast as the car I'm named after, too! I love to race around the fenced yard at top speed and I'm a great jumper, too. Tall bed?? No problem, I've got it! Couch, chair, coffee table...shhh, don't tell my foster mommies about the coffee table.
I don't much like strangers until I get to know them - I bark at them a lot. And I MUST be able to get to know them on my own terms. My foster mommies always say, no look, no touch, no talk, to any new people coming around. As long as you are willing to let me come to you when I am ready, we'll get along just fine. It might take a few hours or a couple days, but I eventually come to love you and your family!
I'm good with other dogs, though I am alpha. I used to get into spats with one of my foster sisters, but we have finally figured out our places on the food chain (she realized I'm the boss!) and now we do great together! I growl at her real loudly every morning when she gets out of bed (she always lazes around for a while after the rest of us get up!), and she licks my face, but that's all we do now - no more spats. Sometimes when we are all on the couch watching TV, I will growl at the other dogs if they come around, but my foster mommy just gives me a firm no or even puts me on the floor. I have started to learn not to do it, and with some consistency, I'll probably stop altogether eventually.
My other foster sister and I play like maniacs. We race around the yard and the house, play tug, wrestle, and just have an awesome time together! I growl really loudly when I play, but that's just me being vocal - it doesn' t mean anything. I also growl when my foster mommies pick me up sometimes, but they just ignore me. They were used to it 'cuz one of their other doggies does the same thing.
I'm great on a leash, ride well in the car, but I hate to have my feet touched. My foster mom takes me to the vet or the groomer to get my nails done. I don't shed much at all, either. You may not know this, but I was locked in a very small room for about a year - never allowed to go outside of that room. I'm very cautious about certain things, but who can blame me?? I was abused and neglected, after all.
I'm mostly potty trained for outside, but it's best to leave a pee pad down for me in case you aren't around or aren't paying attention to me. (My foster family has figured out that I'm afraid of the dark, too.) I've also worn a peekeeper with no issues (once I figured out my foster mommy wasn't trying to hurt me when she put this thing on me!), but I haven't had to wear one in a while. I did chew the strap on one once, so when I do have to wear one, I also get to wear a cute little tee shirt over it.
Anyway, I will need the patience any dog who didn't have a good start to life needs, and the pack leader (that's YOU) that an alpha dog does best with, but once we get to know each other, I will make a great companion! I'm very lovable and sweet with my humans! I've truly blossomed in my foster home, but I'd love to find my furever home!
