Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Squirt is a 7 year old neutered male sheltie. He weighs about 21 pounds and is crate trained. In fact he has spent most of his life in a crate. He has been shaved because of the condition of his coat when coming into rescue. Also, Squirt was debarked by his previous owner.
He is timid in new situations and his first reaction is to run and hide. Squirt can be won over by a calm person with treats! Once you win his trust he will show you what a sweet dog he is.
We do not yet consider Squirt housetrained, but we are working on it in his foster home.
We are looking for a home for Squirt with someone that is familiar with the breed (a sheltie lover) that has a securely fenced yard. He would do best in a quiet household with a patient human. Too much commotion and noise are all a little overwhelming for Squirt.
He is having his teeth cleaned this week and will need a new owner that will care for his teeth properly in the future and also attend to his grooming on a regular basis.
It's time for this dog to live a good life as a cherished companion. Are you the person that can show Squirt how good life can be? He is ready and will just need gentle guidance to get there.
If you are interested in possibly adopting Squirt and can provide the type of home he needs, please email us for an adoption application today.
Upon approval and home visit, adopters will be asked to sign a contract and pay an adoption fee of $150 (which will help reimburse our medical costs for Squirt).
