A Letter from Mau Mau to His Future Parents.
Dear Future Mom and/or Dad,
This is what I know and can tell you about myself. Unfortunately it is not a whole lot, but with your help, nurturing, and kindness I hope to evolve into a very special kitty companion in search of creating many happy memories together. I am an Egyptian Mau; that is to say I am of a relatively rare breed.

My current caretaker, who happens to be a veterinarian, found me a few months ago in the countryside with no collar or microchip. I have a previously injured front leg that is partially functional and not painful, but I often run around 3 legged. Don’t ask me how I got the injury; it’s one of those mysteries about me that will most likely never be solved.

3 legged or not, I still get around just fine and it doesn’t stop me from being a good hunter. I am currently living in an indoor/outdoor situation. I have to admit that I am a bit high strung and would probably do best in a home without young children. I also have to admit that I only like to be petted on my head or the front of my shoulders, not so much my other body parts.

If you are looking for a cat that you can touch on the back or carry around all day long, I am not your boy. However, I do have my times when I am very affectionate and friendly, and then I reward you with an extremely loud purr, but special kitty that I am, I prefer giving you attention on my terms. As a true cat lover, I know you’ll understand this and won’t hold it against me.

When it comes to other felines, I have mixed feelings. I have a best friend who happens to be very mellow. We hang out together and love to groom each other. But then there is this high strung Russian Blue cat (I’ll refer to him as RB) who has become my mortal enemy. Since RB was first in the household, my caretaker feels that I am the one to go. They really tried for a few months, but there is just too much turmoil and stress in the house with RB and me duking it out every day. I too am tired of fighting and would love nothing more than finding a home that doesn’t house a feline bully but instead has loving and understanding kitty parents who would enjoy gazing into my beautiful green eyes.

I tolerate dogs as long as they ignore me, and I am fine with rabbits (meaning I don’t make a meal out of them).

With sincere purrs and meows,
Mau Mau
