My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

• Courtesy Listing • Remington turned 6 in November. He is a Cattle Dog mix that was rescued when he was 8 weeks old. He is neutered, he is up to date on his shots. Only behavioral issue is that if you leave a plate of hot fresh food on the table he might steal some of it. He has recently been unpredictable around the new baby in the home but older kids are fine. He is slower to introduce to other dogs but does not have to be the only dog in the home, if introduced slowly. He does well with dogs at the dog park and on neutral territory. He has never lived with a cat.

From his owners:
“He has been the absolute best dog! He loves to go on walks, hikes, or just run in the back yard and chase squirrels or rabbits. He wants to be where ever the people are all the time. He is super Low Maintenance and easy going dog. He has never had any accidents in the house and is Crate Trained. He is very well behaved. He is very healthy, only have had a few ear infections during his whole life. Up to date currently on shots. It breaks our hearts to have to find him a new home but know he will make someone just as happy and bring as much Joy as he has to us. We are going to miss him so much!
With a little training he would probably make a great hunting dog, or do great on a ranch, farm, or out in the woods. We used to take him camping, backpacking, he's a great outdoor dog and loves to go for runs as well.

As a puppy his lived in a house with other dogs until he was 2. When he was 3 y/o he spent 1.5 weeks at a doggy day care kennel in Michigan, after that visit we started having issues with other dogs in our home. He gets a long great in a dog park and neutral setting, but in his own home or car he is possessive and territorial with other dogs. (A slow introduction to dogs in his home would be best). He has never bitten any other dogs or been aggressive towards people at all.

He has always done well with kids before as well. (Just having a hard time with the new baby). He would do really well with older kids. Small children and infants he has always done well with until recently. Kids larger than he is he is great with.
We have a 6 month old little boy who has recently started to become a little more mobile. 2 weeks ago we were all playing on the floor together, and the dog had a big bone the baby leaned toward it and the dog lunged at the baby. He didn't hurt him, but it scared us, and since that time he treats the baby much differently (previously he was at his side, snuggling him, kissing him). We just can't trust that he wouldn't do something to the baby if they were left alone. We have been keeping them separate often and its not fair to Remington to not be part of the family all the time :( “
