Herbie just turned 4 years old. He is a handsome black and white male Shih Tzu. At 18 pounds, he has a great proportion and is the perfect weight for his build. He is a friendly guy and loves to have his tummy rubbed. He was initially a little unsure in his foster home where there are a couple other Shih Tzus and wasn’t sure that he could trust them, especially around his food. Occasionally Herbie exhibits guarding issues related to food or possession of the people he loves, so he would probably do best as only dog. Herbie would love the full, undivided attention of his family.
Herbie was given to the Shih Tzu Rescue because the young toddler in his original home didn’t know how to respectfully interact with him and he snapped at the child a couple of times. So his ideal home is one without young children living or visiting in the home. Even though he loves being with his people, he is also fine hanging out on his own and is happy entertaining himself. He loves to play outside in the back yard, so it would be great if his new home had a yard for him or if his adopters could take him for long walks every day. Herbie is house trained and will let you know when he needs to go out by standing at the door. He is able to stay at home for several hours on his own.
Herbie is healthy, neutered, current on vaccinations and is micro-chipped. He also just had a dental cleaning. His adoption fee is $320.00 plus sales tax of $23.28, for a total of $343.28. His foster parents would like his adoptive family to live within a reasonable driving distance of the Twin Cities and also encourage them to attend the annual Shih Tzu reunion held in June each year.
