My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Breed: Flatcoated Retriever/Chow Mix
Age: 4 years
Weight: Approx 35-40 lbs
Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Yes
Good with kids: Not Tested (please ask)
Energy Level: Medium

Montana was sharing a kennel with another dog who was alpha. He would bully her and eat her food. She was losing weight. That is when a rescue found her and decided to take her into their organization. That was us! There are already too many bullies in this world already and we couldn't bear the thought having this sweet girl continue to live being bullied. Montana has flourished since being in her foster home. She has come out of her shell and is often seen smiling. She is so happy, she runs and pounces, and engages her foster siblings in puppy play. She hAs very soft fur and will have that "forever puppy face". With some good food, her fur will turn a shiny black in no time. Take it from me... I have adopted all black dogs and they have shined up nicely :) Montana has already trusted her foster parents and enjoys being part of a family. In the evening when they are watching television, she will lay on the floor with a toy between her feet and nod off quietly. She probably never dreamed of living the good life.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming

Spay/Neuter

All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

VETTING NOTE: Double Dog Rescue completely vets our dogs thoroughly to the best of our knowledge based on communication with our Southern Vets. If anything is brought to our attention, we treat the dog. After adopting the dog, you will be responsible for following up with all vetting going forward.

HEARTWORM NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 5-6 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
