Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Breed: Flatcoated Retriever (Mom was a Lab/Border Collie Mix)
Age: Approx 3 months
Weight: 20 lbs
Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: You must train
Good with kids: You must work with the puppy and your children
Energy Level: High (most puppies have high energy)
I met this litter or pups when they just arrived at the shelter and were only 3 weeks old. There are seven altogether. They cried and crawl over each other to try to get to me at the front of their cage. Their little heads would pop through the chain link. I thought they were all going to escape and scatter all over the place like ants. Many puppies don't survive once they go into the shelter. Not this little. They were little fighters and every single one of them made it and are ready to be adopted.
Belly has a special place in my heart. She and Button were very sick when I met them. We rushed them to the vet where they received fluids and spent the night with us where we bottle-fed them. I fed Belly while Tina fed Button. Belly became very attached to me. At only three weeks, she would follow my voice. I have pictures of her laying in front of me while I was laying on my side and of her crawling into my lap as I was blogging. It killed me to leave her behind.
From what I told, she is little miss confidence today and probably the bossiest of the liter. She reminds me of my dog Guinness who looked just liked her as a puppy. Apparently if you correct or scold her for bad behavior, she will bark back as if she is talking back. I have to admit, I love that sassiness. I love dogs with personalities.
The day I left Alabama, she crawled out of her bassinet while I was packing my suitcase. She crawled into my lap and tried to get into my suitcase. Uh. That melted my heart. Whoever adopts her will be one lucky family. I hope I can stay in touch with you as she has a special place in my heart. -Chey

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:
Thorough veterinary examination
All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming
Spay/Neuter
All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.
VETTING NOTE: Double Dog Rescue completely vets our dogs thoroughly to the best of our knowledge based on communication with our Southern Vets. If anything is brought to our attention, we treat the dog. After adopting the dog, you will be responsible for following up with all vetting going forward.
HEARTWORM NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 5-6 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
