Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bernard is one of those guys that got caught in an overcrowded and dreary high-kill shelter through no fault of his own. It's so difficult for any particular dog to stand out and get the acknowledgement for a great temperament (and being so very handsome with a shining black and silver coat and bright blue eyes.) - and therefore get spared from euthanasia. As you might imagine...Bernard must have been SO very special. He was recognized for the exceptional dog he is and efforts were put forth to insure his safety and ultimate adoption...he would be a dream come true for anyone who enjoys the dignified personality of the Shih Tzu combined with the very intelligent and playful personality of the Poodle. Bernard's foster mom had the following to say about this gorgeous guy: Bernard is a calm yet playful guy who really doesn't have a single negative trait! He's a lovebug who wants nothing more than to warm your lap and be devoted and SO sweet! He's perfect in the house and has been trustworthy in every situation. He's absolutely great with me, my husband, our 3 kids (from 6 - 15 years old) and our 2 dogs. Bernard is, hands down, just about the most perfect and loving dog I've ever fostered. His lucky new family is getting a true gem! Farfel's Rescue was contacted to help find this wonderful guy the greatest home possible..he deserves the love and respect of a forever family. Bernard is an exceptional doll baby (words of his foster mom) that is 4 - 4.5 years old and 20 lbs. He's such a great age...old enough to be beyond the puppyish behavior that can be so challenging yet young enough to have many, many active years ahead. Also, at 20 lbs..Bernard is the perfect size to walk (or hike) the Colorado mountains. We envision this super-loving pup either in an adult household who choose to spend lots of time with a fuzzy best friend. Or Bernard would be overjoyed with the company of gentle kids and dogs. He would be so excited with the playtime and then at day's end, would be the greatest snuggler ever. Bernard is so good-natured and respectful that he would be a great companion to be out and about with. Bernard has been in a foster home in Texas while waiting for his transport to Denver (his great behavior and sweet nature earned him this ticket). He has been working on his home and socialization skills and we're so proud of his progress. Bernard is a non-shedding guy who will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his stunning coat (with the most beautiful silver-streaks on charcoal black) healthy and cottony-soft. Bernard will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 1/23/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
