Rico's Story...
Please visit our main website at for most recent list of available Boxers and to fill out an adoption application. Due to the volume of inquiries our volunteers receive we are unable to reply to inquiries without a completed adoption application.

Rico is one suave dude. He is a youngster and has some basic training, like sit, but could use a good teacher for perfect canine manners. He looks to have been given up on before he was given a chance as he is a smart boy and eager to learn. He learned to walk nicely on a freedom harness almost immediately as opposed to pulling on a neck collar. He gets excited and can jump for joy which might be too much for little kids until he is trained to keep 4 on the floor. We found him at the Downey shelter where he was scared to death. Given a few minutes with a calm person or nice girl dog and Rico lets down all guards and enjoys just being a dog. He is a handsome young boy that will grow to be an amazing companion in the right hands.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rico, a Encino Boxer puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Boxer for sale in Encino, or seeking a Boxer puppy from a breeder in Encino.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Encino already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Encino breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Boxer breeders who help with Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Encino paves the way for another one to be saved.
