Rex's Story...
Rex is a sweet, loving 3 year old male dalmation/border collie mix. He is a very mellow dog who will follow you everywhere. He rolls over all the time and begs for belly rubs, he loves to go for long drives in the car, but his favorite thing to do is to go on long walks. He has a nervous tick where he chomps the air but the vet feels that once he's very comfortable he will stop doing this.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rex, a Shelter Island Border Collie/Dalmatian dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie/Dalmatian for sale in Shelter Island, or seeking a Border Collie/Dalmatian dog from a breeder in Shelter Island.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Shelter Island already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Shelter Island breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie/Dalmatian breeders who help with Border Collie/Dalmatian rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Shelter Island paves the way for another one to be saved.
