Facts about Cookie *Needs Foster*

  • Breed: Pit Bull Terrier Mix
  • Color: Red/Golden/Orange/Chestnut - With White
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female
  • ID#: 8142002

Cookie is a sweet, friendly, and playful girl.. and look at those adorable ears! While she may seem a little hyper when you meet her, she really does calm down in a home environment. She is convinced she is a lap dog even though she weighs 40 pounds! She also will crawl around on her tummy, which is totally adorable. Cookie is very interested in meeting new dogs on her walks; however, if they bark or growl at her, she will return the favor. She does great in doggie daycare and almost never barks, unless it is in response to another dog. Cookie should not go to a home where there are cats. She is about 2 yrs old and house-broken and crate-trained.

About Mutt Love Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Mutt Love Rescue is a non-profit, no-kill, volunteer dog rescue organization serving the Washington, DC, metro area. We are dedicated to rescuing dogs left homeless for whatever reason – dogs in public shelters where they are at high risk of euthanasia due to pet overpopulation, dogs given up by their owners because of difficult circumstances, and those in danger of abuse or neglect.

We place dogs in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and lives.

Animals in our care are spayed or neutered, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. To the extent our finances allow, dogs in the greatest need take priority.

We are determined to keep administrative expenses extremely low so that virtually every dollar taken in goes directly to the care of the animals. Our group remains interested in and committed to the welfare of the dog beyond the adoption process.

Finally, we strive to work with area shelters and other rescue and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless pets.

Our Adoption Process...

The first step in our process is the application which can be completed either online or at one of our adoption events. We would then conduct an interview with all members of the household. We do a vet reference if applicable, and lastly, we do a home visit. Our adoption fee is $285 and all dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on all required vaccines, tested for heartworm and tickborne diseases, and on year-round heartworm preventative. Lastly, all dogs are microchipped.
