My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A family of Campbell Dwarf Hamsters were dropped off at Chicago Animal Care and Control recently when their guardians could no longer care for their ever-growing population. They are living with me and have been separated into different cages, except for Momma and her three youngest children who are still only days old and nursing. They are all looking for a loving hamster guardians.

Hamsters are very fun to watch. When they are not sleeping, they are busy busy busy … spinning on their wheel, playing and stuffing their cheeks with all their favorite foods. The main diet of hamsters are pellets, supplemented with small amounts of sunflower seeds and nuts, carrots, celery, lettuce and spinach. These hamsters are happy, healthy, energetic and nocturnal so they typically sleep or hide during a good part of the day and awake in the afternoon for a romp, snack and a run through their tubes.

These hamsters range in age from one-week-old, to three weeks old, to four months old … they are all very young!

To meet and possibly adopt a hamster, please contact me directly at sheri@petraits.com or 773-777-2891. Their adoption fee of $15 each, or $30 each including their cage and supplies. They are currently living with me in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood. They are not the gentlest creatures I’ve ever handled, so I’d recommend them for adults as opposed to a child’s pet. However, they get better and better with frequent handling!
