My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ellie! We think she is about 3 years old and was used as a breeder- she looks like she's had several litters and then once done, she was tossed out. She was found on the highway in NC and someone found her and took her to the shelter (Halifax). She was never claimed. The shelter called her Highway and so the first thing we did after getting her was to give her a fresh start with a new name! Ellie is HW positive but is being treated. She is spayed so at some point someone at least took care of that. She is current on vaccines and will have her final HW injections on Thursday and Friday.

Eliie has been living with 2 children and 2 large dogs. She loves them all. She is becoming very social and loves getting belly rubs. She is still a bit submissive and is a little bit timid but she is learning to trust people- she has never shown aggression if she is fearful. She loves walks and enjoys sniffing outside. She has a hound dog wiggle and a happy howl but she is quiet on walks and inside. She is learning to be a member of a family and live indoors. We think she was probably kept in a cage as her front teeth are worn down a bit but it does not affect her hearty little appetite. She is easily trainable and loves treats- she is even learning how to take them from my hand- she used to wait until I put them on the floor. She enjoys the hustle and bustle of a home and would do well with another dog and/or kids. She loves snuggling on the sofa or in a comfy bed- she deserves that. She is a warm, happy, thankful deep soul!
