My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that is dismal and quickly runs out of space. This is the situation that Bentley was put into at 9 months old. It's not unusual to see opportunistic breeding with Golden/Labs ...and if all doesn't go perfectly...out they go into the street or to a high-kill shelter. Such was the case with Bentley. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Texas rescuer in saving Bentley...she could see that his temperament was so loving and sweet that she couldn't allow him to be euthanized. Bentley was immediately brought to be vetted and temperament tested - he was pronounced a healthy puppy with a very sweet and lovable personality. It turns out that Bentley, at only 9 months old, is so wonderful and cooperative that it's been a fun and rewarding experience for his foster mom. She reported to us that Bentley is absolutely a lovebug and very social and well-adjusted in every way. She described his personality as typically Golden...sweet and so lovable while being active and playful in a very positive way. She describes Bentley as a just about perfect family companion that's perfect for Colorado. He will be overjoyed with hiking and loving the outdoors with his favorite people. Like most Goldens, Bentley is extremely loyal and very in love with those who are kind and and loving to him. He's like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around him. If Bentley continues to be properly socialized, he will become a well-adjusted and devoted adult companion. If he is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, he will become a well-behaved dog who respects his people as his leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for Bentley Since he will be approximately 40 - 45 lbs when full-grown, we also feel it's very important that Bentley is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. He will be a perfect size to enjoy an active lifestyle playing and snowshoeing (he'd love that) in the Colorado mountains. We'd also be thrilled with a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. It's wonderful that there are no worries about Bentley in the home...he's perfectly housetrained and respectful of human's possessions. Bentley likes the the car and lies quietly while looking forward to the great adventures that await him. He can therefore accompany his family just about anywhere.

Bentley is currently being fostered in Denver. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
