My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gizmo is the sweetest little dog. He is a tiny fluffy ball of love. He is a sweet heart that will sit for hours with you but is fine to go off and sleep in his crate by himself. He loves his people but isn’t needy at all. Being such a tiny dog and having been through so much, he does sometimes need a few minutes to warm up to new people but generally speaking he is friendly with everyone. When he first arrived he was so frightened and would growl at anyone that looking into his carrier. Once we got him home he was a completely different dog and I don't believe there is a mean bone in his body. Gizmo is a young adult approximately 2 years old and currently weighs 7 lbs.

Gizmo is slightly on the timid side and because of this and his size I don’t think little kids would be great for him (toddler and under) but he loves the kids in his foster home who are preteens. Gizmo is a smart little doggy and completely ignores the cats. He gets along with the dogs and would be fine with another doggy friend in the home but would be fine as an only dog too. He even ignores the guinea pigs. Gizmo goes in his crate and is quiet when we go out, so quiet that you wouldn't even know he was there until you hear tiny little scratchy sounds. Gizmo loves to cuddle and he loves to be brushed. He will sit pretty and beg if you stop brushing him and then will snuggle in closer to you until you start brushing again. He plays with his toys all by himself. He will get a stuffy , lay on his back and shake the toy in the air while rolling around. Sooo cute. It seemed he must have been infested with fleas before being treated as his fur was full of bloody scabby bits of skin. A good bath and a scrub got most of that out but he still has a little bit of flakiness. Nothing a good diet and some love won’t fix.

So far Gizmo is very well behaved and hasn’t gotten into anything. He will come when you call him but other than that I don’t believe he knows many commands. He does however listen to the general “chatter” in the house. If you say “Gizmo move” he will move. Gizmo is fully house trained. Gizmo loves his crate , he goes in on his own to sleep and sleeps the night in there also. It has been so cold out that we haven't had him out for any walks but he is 7 Lbs....how bad can he be on a walk? He never really leaves your side and doesn't try to bolt out the door or anything like that. Even though he is happy to amuse himself, he does like to be around people.

Gizmo is one of the easiest dogs we have fostered. He could easily go into almost any type of home. He is sweet and easy going. He sits pretty and begs for anything he wants be it cuddles, brushing, or food. He is quiet in the home and although he does like to play he is low energy and wouldn’t require a lot of exercise. He is young and could go for walks where I’m sure he would become the hit of the neighbourhood as he is so cute and sweet.

Really he would do well in almost any home. He is small and can be a bit timid but other than that he is a darling little dog. As mentioned earlier, I wouldn’t place him in a home with kids 4 or under but other than that I think he would be fine. He would love to have someone who is home or works part time but I think he would also be fine on his own for a working day.

If you would like to make this little boy a part of your family, please submit an application for consideration.
