My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fritz is a beautiful, happy, laid back kind of boy. He is very friendly and thus far he has been very sweet with everyone including kids and other dogs. He was so gentle with a 2 lbs puppy and also with a toddler who visited. He is quite gentle. He is a very quiet dog and I haven't heard him bark yet and I am in an apartment so there are always people coming and going in the hallway. It does seem like Fritz came from a German home as he appears to know German commands. Fritz is approximately 2 to 3 years old and currently weighs 60 lbs.

Here is what else his foster family had to say:

Fritz is a very affectionate companion and if you would let him, he would love to sit in your lap. He is still recovering from his experiences in the kill shelter and has a touch of kennel cough but it is getting better. He is also still quite thin but has already gained four pounds since he has been with me. I have been adding a little pasta to his meals. His energy has been fairly low but I can see he is getting more energy all the time however, he is will always be a more laid back kind of dog. He doesn't seem to shed much either so he may be younger than he appears.

Fritz is very friendly and sociable with everyone and everything. He is not shy with anyone and as I mentioned above, he was even very gentle with a visiting toddler. He is also very good with other pets and I don't think cats would be a problem. The only thing is is afraid of is loud traffic but he is getting better as we take him home and get him more socialized to city living. He has been very good in the home both being quiet and not having any issues when left on his own when we go out. His favourite thing right now is to cuddle with his people.

He appears to be a bilingual dog as he responds to commands in German and English. So far I have discovered that he knows "sit", "lie down", "come", and "off". He is fully house trained and is very good about letting me know when he needs to go out to do his business. He does beg at times when we are eating but we are working on that. He seems to have been crate trained as he is very comfortable with his crate. We leave the door open and he goes in and out of it for naps and such whenever he feels like it. When we go out and put him in the crate with the door shut, he is very quiet and just lies down calmly until our return. He is also leash trained and walks very nicely on leash.

Fritz is a very good all around companion and pet. He would be fine in just about any household and would do well with a family or a single person. Although he is currently being fostered in an apartment, I think due to his size he should be in a home where he has a backyard to run around and play in. Kids and other pets would be fine but he would do well in a home on his own where he gets all of the attention as well.

If you would like to make Fritz a part of your family, please submit an application for consideration.
