My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Polo is a very handle-able, energetic and sweet, two-year-old, male shepherd/terrier-mix looking for a loving guardian.

Polo absolutely loves other dogs (not cats) and plays regularly in doggie play groups. He knows the commands sit, shake, down, stay, and (usually) drop and is working on loose-leash walking. He’s a loving and appreciative dog who's goofy and friendly.

Polo landed at Chicago Animal Care and Control and was such a volunteer favorite that he is now living happily in a foster home with another dog who he loves to play with. He loves going to the dog park and hasn't met a dog he didn't play nicely with! He’s also an excellent running companion.

Although Polo is 99% housebroken, he is looking for a home where someone either works from home, comes home at lunch-time, or has a dog-walker … he needs a mid-day break! He is quietly crate-trained, but not for over four hours without a break.

Polo is usually very gentle, but he can get a bit mouthy/jumpy when excited, so he would do best in a home with teens and adults.

Polo is very healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped and heartworm-tested. His adoption fee of $200 benefits the rescued pets of Friends of Animal Care and Control.

To meet and possibly adopt Polo, please contact Kat at kat@fcacc.org for an adoption application. Or if you have further questions about his behavior, please contact his foster mom at kathryn.lachey@gmail.com He is currently being fostered in the Bucktown/Logan Square neighborhood in Chicago.
