Buckee is a 3 y/o male who was named after the truck stop where we met the transporter from a shelter southwest of Houston! He was found stray and when no one came looking for him, the shelter staff contacted HBHR because he was too sweet of a dog not to be rescued. This wonderful boy is a slender 27 pounds on a 15 inch frame.
Buckee loves being part of a beagle pack. He enjoys all the usual games, but has trouble deciding which is more fun; wrestling with a big boy or chasing a lightning fast smaller guy! One thing they all agree on is that going after the squirrels is the all time best activity! Buckee can get a little noisy is his pronouncements that there are varmints in the yard, but quiets down when called. Buckee has good house manners and hasn’t had any accidents since the first couple of days. He has been kennel trained but needs to be bribed with food to go into one. He has never gotten into anything, so is rarely kenneled in his foster home.
Buckee loves to spend his quiet time near his person. He will put his feet on your leg and look at you with those big brown eyes until you pat your lap and invite him up. He loves to cuddle but usually will wait until invited. There are times when he will fly into a room and pounce on you like a long lost brother. He has a sweet, easy going nature and a wonderful enthusiasm for life. Buckee will be a great family dog, but he will need a canine companion, if alone all day and a family who will shower him with love.
