Tonka's Info...

I am purebred, good with kids, good with dogs, and not good with cats.

Tonka's Story...
Tonka is a beautiful 13-months-old harlequin Great Dane. He is a big puppy weighing 132 lbs. He is very sweet and gentle. Good around kids and great with other dogs. He is a little timid of men, but with some reassurance he comes around.

Tonka was turned into rescue because his family is moving into an apartment. Tonka is an indoor pet. He is calm when inside, but he does like to play outside. We prefer that Tonka will go to a home with another large dog, so he will have a playmate.

If interested in this big beautiful boy, please fill out the adoption application on our website. Keep in mind, if the post has ADOPTION PENDING, that means that the dog already went to a new home for a trial adoption. All applications received after the dog is on a trial, will be kept as a back up, in case we get the dog back. If we get the dog back, the next qualified adopter will be contacted.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tonka, a Austin Great Dane dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Great Dane for sale in Austin, or seeking a Great Dane dog from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Great Dane breeders who help with Great Dane rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
