My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

11 MARCH 2015: Hi, I'm Dallas. My foster mom suggested I write a little bit about myself. I am looking for my forever home which, according to my foster mom, will be a place that wants all the love I have to give and will love and care for me in return.

About me: I'm a young beagle. My foster mom says I'm a lemon but a good kind of lemon (as in fur color). I enjoy tennis balls (especially the kind that squeak!), playing with other dogs and people, and eating. I very much like grooming the resident beagles. I'm not sure they like it that much but I can't help licking their faces and ears. I'm just trying to be helpful! Oh, and I also like drinking my foster mom's morning tea. She says I shouldn't do this but I can't help myself. I'm also learning to fetch!

I don't like vacuum cleaners and I'm getting used to loud noises. I'm a bit shy with people I don't know but try my best to be confident if you give me a chance. I'm also getting a hang of housebreaking. I love going outside on the leash! I sleep all night in my crate and will go in there on my own when I feel like I need a break.

I know there are a lot of dogs out there looking for forever homes. I hope you'll take a look at me.

Snuggles and puppy kisses,

Dallas

20 FEBRUARY 2015: Dallas' tail only stops wagging when he's asleep. He loves to play with his foster siblings (both human and beagle) and is happiest where the action is!

He had his booster shot this week, and the vet said he looks great and remarked that he is very sociable given his rough start in life. Dallas worked his considerable charms on the vet techs, too. I had to pry him from their laps so I could get home! His house training is getting better (it's been a bit cold but he is improving; the vet said, given his age, he's where he should be in this respect).

The vet thinks Dallas is around 6 months old. He has a lot of puppy play in him but will quiet down for the evening. He is fully crate trained and will go into his 'puppy palace' without protest. He's getting used to the sounds of normal life (garbage truck, doorbell, etc.) but still needs a bit of confidence. Though shy with strangers at first, he warms up quickly.

Dallas is a real sweetheart and will give the right person or family a lot of love!

3 FEBRUARY 2015: Dallas has settled in nicely at his foster home. He loves to cuddle and to play. He is becoming an expert leash walker and his housebreaking is improving day by day! He is still afraid of loud sounds outside (garbage trucks, car horns, etc.). Noisy children don’t seem to bother him at all, though! In fact, his favorite thing is to be snuggled on the sofa with the family.

Dallas sleeps quietly in his crate at night and has quickly fallen into our household routines. He is a beautiful lemon beagle with super soft fur. The photos don’t do him justice. He could stand to gain some weight and has been known to help himself to my morning tea.
Dallas and his 7 buddies hail from Preston, WV, where they were part of a group of 45 (!) beagles taken in from one home by a small, rural shelter. They arrived with BREW on 22 January 2014.

Dallas is the youngster of the group at 1 year old. He is a lemon beagle and is shy, but his little tail was wagging the entire time. He is a real love, and when you meet him, you will not be able to stop kissing his little face. He is now fully vetted but will need to be with his foster family to gain some confidence and a little more weight.

Each of the Preston County beagles is going to need some time in a foster home to learn how to be a pampered house pet before they are ready to be adopted. This may take more time for some than it does with others. Thanks to all, including the shelter, transporters, foster homes, and donors, who have helped BREW help these wonderful beagles!
