My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rex here! Are you looking for a 6-month-old neutered male Dutch Shepherd mix puppy who weighs about 35 pounds? If so, you can stop your searching because you have found him!

It's no secret that I am a super cute pup, but I also happen to be fun-loving, outgoing, and very sweet! You'll never have a dull moment when I'm around. Trust me!

By the way, have you seen the set of ears I've got on me?! Aren't they great? My friends all hope that I never grow into them. I'd have to agree. I think they're my best feature!

You're probably wondering why one side of my rump is shaved and why I have a pretty gnarly incision on my hip. Please don't let it scare you off. I promise, I'm fine. However, I can't really remember what happened to me. Somehow I fractured my pelvis and the "ball" of the ball-and-socket joint in my hip. If I had to guess, I probably tried to challenge a car. Whatever happened though, I don't think I won.

I used to live on the streets of South Central LA. Someone saw me gimping around one day and thought it best that they take me to the local shelter. They were concerned that I might not be able to find food or that I wouldn't be able to protect myself.

The 6 days I spent at the shelter were the longest days of my life! Nobody did anything about my injuries and I just sat in a cage by myself all day. It was loud and smelly and I wanted to leave. But, just when I was about to lose all hope, I was rescued! CageFree whisked me away and took me to see a specialist.

From the X-rays taken at the shelter it appeared that my injuries were pretty old. My doctor decided that it would be best to leave my pelvic fracture alone and allow it to heal on its own. My hip joint was another story.
They left the socket, but completely removed the "ball." Sounds pretty serious, right? It's actually not. Removing the "ball" will allow for a fibrous false joint to form and I'll be back to a pain free life in no time!

It hasn't been long since the surgery and I'm already starting to use my leg! It will take some time, but my doctor expects me to make a full recovery.

Have you contacted CageFree yet to schedule a time to meet me? No? You should hurry. I'm sure I'll be a hot commodity around here. You wouldn't want to miss your opportunity to welcome me into your family!
