My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Destiny is a four-year-old, 60-pound, smart, affectionate and loyal, female black shepherd/terrier-mix looking for a loving guardian.

Destiny was rescued after surviving a neglectful and abusive puppyhood. She is currently living in a foster home with two Great Danes who she loves to herd, play with, and chase. After acclimating to her foster home she has proven mild-mannered and calm. However, she does carry with her the residual fears from her traumatized youth. She is incredibly loving and devoted to her foster dad, and seeks out his attention and approval. She is also very protective of him. Destiny is housebroken and kennel-trained.

Destiny is sometimes nervous in new situations and when meeting new people. However, she’s a smart girl who can acclimate if given time and patience. Destiny is also nervous meeting new dogs and requires a gradual introduction; she does best with dogs her size and larger. She does not do well with small dogs, cats, rabbits, etc.

Like most dogs, Destiny loves routine … her morning belly rubs, playing with her favorite Great Dane friend and going for walks. She gets nervous with change. So, Destiny is looking for an experienced and patient dog-lover preferably with another large dog to give her the consistency and calm life in which to thrive.

If you’d like to meet and possibly adopt Destiny, please fill out an adoption application at http://www.acaringplacehs.org and follow up by contacting the rescue group directly at acaringplace@comcast.net or 630-375-7976. Destiny is very healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, de-wormed, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. She is being fostered in Whiting, Indiana. Her adoption fee of $250 benefits the rescued pets of A Caring Place Rescue.
