Smokey's Story...
Smokey is a 6 year old neutered male Pit Bull. This boy has an athletic build, appears in great health and has the best darn "pitty" smile. Smokey came to us from another rescue who saved him from an owner who basically tied him in the yard and left him so there's not a lot of back ground to share. He is reported to be very affectionate, which he's already demonstrated with the volunteers, and indicative of the breed behaves like a big ol' lap dog. It's unknown if Smokey is house or kennel trained. He is leash trained and although likes to explore did walk on loose lead with some gentle encouragement. Smokey knows sit and to shake with both paws. It is documented he shouldn't be around cats or chickens so probably has a high prey drive to be aware of. Smokey is high activity and shows some anxiety in the kennel; he is vocal and even howls on occasion but should settle down in a home setting given love and adequate exercise. If you'd like to meet Smokey you can come by the rescue between 11 am and 4 pm any day.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Smokey, a Meridian American Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Meridian, or seeking a American Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Meridian.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Meridian already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Meridian breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with American Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Meridian paves the way for another one to be saved.
