My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 2/19/15: Winnie is a five-year-old 9 pound little girl who was rescued from a South Florida shelter. She is a healthy young house-trained friendly little girl whose only problem was the fact that she had a cataract in her left eye which caused her to be mostly blind. Her right eye was undersized and nonfunctional.

Last week, Winnie, with the help of our very generous donors, was able to have her cataract removed and replaced with a brand-new lens. Her right eye was removed. Her eyesight is slowly improving because of residual swelling and some intraoperative bleeding that occurred. The doctor believes that in the next two weeks her vision will drastically improve. For now, Winnie is wearing the cone of shame proudly and continues to be a lovable huggable snuggable little girl who gets along with other dogs and loves everyone she meets.

Winnie wanted to thank everybody for this amazing opportunity.... for a young dog to be able to have a full and happy life.

UPDATED BIO 2/2/15: My name is Winnie. I am a 5-7 year old little girl who weighs 8.5 lbs and am being fostered in Miami, FL. I just wanted to say thank you to all the PAWsome people and pups out there who sent me some funds so that I could have my vision restored. I am SUPER excited to have my cataract surgery Thursday February 12th. YIPPEEEEEEEE. I am such a good girl. Foster Mom says once my eye is better, I have to stick around so I can see the doggy eye doctor for a couple of months. Then she says I will be scooped up because I am so good! I am housetrained, friendly, and am learning to play with toys. I hardly ever bark. I love my new life UYR helped me find. I know it's only going to get better. Licks and wags to all of you!!!!
P.S. My Foster Mommy gave me a haircut. Everyone says they think I look pretty darn cute! I was pretty matted.
xoxo - Winnie

UPDATED BIO 01/25/2015: Meet Winnie. She is a 5 year old 9 lb little girl who is being fostered in Miami, FL.
Imagine going through life looking through a sheet of wax paper.... and that's probably putting it mildly. See, Winnie's right eye congenitally smaller than the other (they call that microphthalmia). It is also non-visual meaning she cannot see out of it. Her left eye, has a mature cataract which makes Winnie nearly blind. At only 5 years old, we think Winnie deserves better.
Winnie is a loving, affectionate girl who loves to sit on your lap and generally be close to you. That said, she is fine when you leave the house. She's not overly anxious. We haven't had a single accident in the house. She is truly a sweetheart.
Winnie is going to see a Veterinary Ophthalmologist on Tuesday. While he gives us a 50% discount on cataract surgery, it still costs $1100 (and we have spent over $700 so far on her vetting.... She is otherwise a healthy girl). We cannot do her cataract surgery until all $1100 is raised :(.
If you have it in your heart to give Winnie the gift of sight, please check out her donation link at http://www.youcaring.com/nonprofits/help-winnie-see-again/296901
If you cannot donate, please please please share her link in the hopes others may be able to help. Even $5 makes a huge difference towards reaching our goal! Thank you for your support!!
