My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

GEORGE is a 9 year old neutered black male Lab who weighs 68 pounds. George is ready for a new scene! He was brought to the shelter after a good Samaritan reported him left outside all night during a recent snow. Animal control investigated and found out that the homeowners had moved and left him in the yard. That’s enough of that! says George! From LR evaluator: He walks a little slowly due to some arthritis in his hips; being treated with Rimadyl. He seems to be house trained as he would hold it until we got outside. He stopped to say hello to a couple of other pups on his way in and out of the kennel. No growling or barking at all, he’s a mellow fellow. He did not mind me handling him - running my hands up his legs, tail, etc. He didn't pull on the leash - just kind of wandered where I wanted him to go. He's a gentle guy, with the most darling grey muzzle! He likes to relax and also enjoys leisurely walks with you. He is approved for kids 10+.

Update (3/02): George is doing well in his foster home with our two resident dogs and one kitty. George is a very sweet chill dog who loves to be close and petted. He enjoys long naps during the day and short walks around the neighborhood. His appetite is great, he's gaining weight, and is looking healthy. His days of neglect are over. He has settled in and seems to be very comfortable with all the attention he is getting. Please consider adopting this sweet fellow who just wants to be loved in a forever home.

Update (2/20): A message from George: I have taken advantage of the cold and snow this week to practice my napping skills. Foster Mom says I am getting better at it as each day goes by!!! I have also mastered meal time....my absolute favorite time of the day! The food here is amazing and it is served 3 times a day...WOW! My foster brother Baker is pretty cool. He is working on showing me how to play with balls and toys. I still need practice with that, but he is very patient with me. Well, nap time again.....and sweet dreams of my forever home! Love, GEORGE

Update (2/19): George is doing great! He enjoyed walking around in the snow in the last few days but really prefers to be inside and warm. He continues to be an easy going guy and is a welcome house guest

Update (2/09):: George is a very sweet older gentleman who just wants your love and attention. He has settled in quite well in his new foster home. His appetite has quickly improved and has learned to relax on his new soft dog bed. George sleeps well in his dog kennel at night and enjoys his leisurely walks around the neighborhood during the day. He follows his foster mom around the house because he just wants to be close. George moves slow but enjoys interacting with other dogs. He is a very calm and loving dog who just craves some TLC.

Update (01/29: George is doing well and is adjusting to his life with his foster family. He enjoys relaxing, taking walks and baths. He appears to be used to spending a good amount of time outside so his foster family is helping him see that it is much warmer and more comfortable inside! He shows interest in resting on the dog beds but hasn't found one that he loves yet. His foster family is enjoying his personality and expressiveness. We will share more on George as we get to know him!
