Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hello my name is Luige and I am a Black Headed Caique. I am about 5 years old and as you can see I am gorgeous! I am very independent and prefer to do my own thing. I often entertain my foster mom and make her laugh, I am quite the character! When she comes home I greet her with whistles and I love when she opens the door and I am able to come out at my leisure. I don’t really talk but I make a lot of sounds and whistles. I sleep all night without problem but prefer to go to bed by about 8:30ish and I like my cage covered. I may complain for about 5-10 min but then I am quiet all night. I don’t really like to be touched but I will step up if I fly to the floor, but my foster Mommy is working with me on that. I do a lot of fun things that gives my foster mom something to watch like sliding around the bottom of my cage on my back, doing back flips on the corners of the cage, hanging upside down, and playing with my toys. When I am out of my cage all my foster mom has to do is say go back to you cage, let’s go goodnight and wave her fingers/hand toward the door and I will fly back from my play gym or if I am on my cage I will go right back into my cage. I don’t always like people messing with my cage if I am in it but once I see what you are doing I am ok with it. I love when my foster mom cleans my cage or around my cage (since I do make a mess) and I whistle at her the whole time to let her know how much I appreciate it. I also travel well once I am in my travel cage. I have made a few trips with her and I don’t mind being in the car. I also enjoy looking out the front window from my cage. I love to eat… sometimes I am picky but I like most fruits, roudybush pellets, and will try most things, so my foster Mom is working with me on vegetables as that part of a diet is more important than fruits. If I don’t like what you give me, I will just throw it out of my cage or to the bottom of the cage (my foster Mom keeps trying anyway though, lol!). I take baths in my water dish so it needs to be changed at least two times a day and I really enjoy my spray downs with a water bottle. I love to be around people. My previous owner had dogs and when my friend brought over dogs I got really excited, but just remember that you have to be careful when other species are around, you have to make sure I am safe and that there is no physical contact. Kids are ok for a little while as long as they are not running around being kids, I much prefer adults though. Won’t you let me join your family? I would love to bring some joy into your home. My foster mom will be sad to see me leave but she wants me to have a forever family. So please come meet me very soon!
